Roadmap
Step One (10 hours)
- Set the puzzle and action difficulties to Story.
- Get familiar with the story, maps, and puzzles.
- Collect all available Inventory Space Items, Ema, Hidden Omamori, and Documents.
- Collect and exchange Offerings to gain at least 10,000 Faith, but spend as little as possible.
- Unlock the Shiromuku boss-related missable achievement.
Step Two (8 hours)
- Start a New Game+.
- Set the puzzle difficulty to Hard and the action difficulty to Story.
- Collect all newly available Inventory Space Items, Ema, Hidden Omamori, and Documents.
- Collect and exchange Offerings to gain at least 20,000 Faith, but spend as little as possible.
- Open all rooms and boxes marked with Inari-sama’s Seal.
- Combine the endings UFO and The Fox Wets Its Tail:
- Don’t consume any Red Capsules.
- Listen to the UFO radio broadcast and inspect all movie posters.
- Obtain the Sacred Sword, but don’t purify it.
- Don’t offer the brooch to the ancient Jizo.
- Unlock the Shichibi boss-related missable achievement.
Step Three (8 hours)
- Start a New Game++.
- Set the puzzle difficulty to Lost in the Fog and the action difficulty to Story.
- Collect all remaining Documents and clean up missed achievements.
- Upon gaining 22,500 Faith, make a save and:
- Purchase all Stat Upgrades, then reload the save and
- Purchase all Hokora Omamori.
- Combine the endings Fox’s Wedding and Ebisugaoka in Silence:
- Don’t consume any Red Capsules.
- Obtain and purify the Sacred Sword.
- Collect the Agura no Hotei-sama.
- Save before offering the brooch to the ancient Jizo.
- Unlock the Tsukumogami and Kyubi boss-related missable achievements.
Step Four (4 hours)
- Start a New Game+++.
- Set the action difficulty to Lost in the Fog (refer to the Challenges section for tips).
If you don’t want to play through the game a fourth time for the Clear Skies achievement, you can set the action difficulty to Lost in the Fog on your second or third playthrough. However, it’s highly recommended to focus on this achievement after unlocking a significant amount of Upgrades and Hokora Omamori. If you struggle with the boss-related achievements on Lost in the Fog, you can make a save and lower the action difficulty to Story (available after dying repeatedly). Be sure to reload the save afterwards, as lowering the difficulty will otherwise void Clear Skies.

⋗︎ Endings & Bosses

Coming Home to Roost
Drown in a bottomless pit of self-doubt.

The Bird that Flies Highest
Defeated the Shiromuku without dying once.
Complete the game for the first time or consume at least one Red Capsule in New Game+.
The final boss of this ending is the Shiromuku. To unlock the missable achievement The Bird that Flies Highest, defeat them without dying mid-fight. On Story or Hard action difficulty, dying will reset you to the start of the current phase, voiding the achievement. If this happens, reload your last save and try again.

The Fox Wets Its Tail
A hell of your own choosing. Nothing else matters, now.

Fox Tamer
Defeated all the summoned monsters before putting an end to the Shichibi.
Complete the game in New Game+ and:
- don’t consume any Red Capsules, and
- collect the Sacred Sword and don’t purify it.
The final boss of this ending is the Shichibi (the fight starts with the Shiromuku). To unlock the missable achievement Fox Tamer, quickly defeat all three waves of summoned monsters before the Shichibi’s next attack is fully charged:

Fox’s Wedding
Dolls are happiest when they are loved.

Puppetmaster
Defeated the Tsukumogami without getting hit by a single arrow.
Complete the game in New Game+ and:
- don’t consume any Red Capsules,
- purify the Sacred Sword or don’t collect it, and
- obtain the Agura no Hotei-sama in the Hermitage of Crimson Water.
The final boss of this ending is the Tsukumogami. To unlock the missable achievement Puppetmaster, defeat them without getting hit by a single arrow. Halfway through the fight, the boss will start a ranged attack and teleport you to the edge of the arena. This attack can be interrupted by quickly running towards the boss, dodging the first set of arrows, and hitting them. This can be easily done with the Horse and Boar Omamori equipped:

Ebisugaoka in Silence
We need to talk about our future.

God Slayer
Defeated both the Tsukumogami and the Kyubi within 10 minutes of the fight starting.
After completing two different full endings (the UFO Ending does not count), complete the game in New Game++ and:
- don’t consume any Red Capsules,
- collect and purify the Sacred Sword, and
- offer the Brooch to the ancient Jizo.
The final bosses of this ending are the Tsukumogami and the Kyubi. Defeat them within 10 minutes to unlock the missable achievement God Slayer.

The Great Space Invasion!
Rise up! The Space Army is coming!
Play in New Game+ and:
- Listen to the Radio Broadcast after the first Fog Monster chase.
- Examine all three The Great Space Invasion Movie Posters in chronological order.
- Read The Great Space Invasion Movie Review in front of Chizuruya General Store.
Radio Broadcast
After the first Fog Monster chase, cross the waterway and look for the ledge on the right that leads to the house with the bloody mask. Instead of climbing the ledge, turn around, cross the waterway again, and locate a small path on the left. Listen to the radio broadcast to learn that an object of unknown origin has attacked and destroyed the Magogawa Bridge:

The Great Space Invasion <1> Movie Poster
After completing the Corridos section in Rinko’s House, return to the Doctor’s House and head east into the rice field. Locate a hay shed beside a farmer’s houses, move the wooden planks to pass through, and interact with the first poster to trigger a short UFO cutscene:

The Great Space Invasion <2> Movie Poster
Head to the first Hokora in the alleyways leading to Ebisugaoka Middle School, and interact with the second poster to trigger another UFO cutscene:

The Great Space Invasion <3> Movie Poster
Backtrack to Chizuruya General Store and enter the side yard you passed through before. The poster is on the house facing the tree and inspect it to trigger the third UFO cutscene:

The Great Space Invasion Movie Review
Finally, leave the side yard and approach Chizuruya General Store. The movie review can be found on the bench where you met Shu the first time:

If you start a New Game+ after unlocking this ending and interact with any movie poster again, a UFO will appear and drop the secret PP-8001 Sword:

Challenges

Thankful to Be Here
Complete the game with action difficulty set to “Story” or higher.

Grateful for a Worthy Foe
Complete the game with action difficulty set to “Hard” or higher.

Clear Skies
Complete the game with action difficulty set to “Lost in the Fog”.
The Lost in the Fog action difficulty unlocks upon completing the game for the first time. Since all three achievement stack, you can skip the Hard action difficulty and focus on Lost in the Fog. Note that none of these achievements can be combined with the UFO Ending, which can be reached within 30 minutes of playtime.
Recommended Strategy
- Play in New Game+ after unlocking all Stat Upgrades and at least two extra Omamori slots.
- Consume Red Capsules to trigger the default ending and the Shichibi boss.
- Collect Health Items, Toolkits, Kitchen Knives (strongest weapon), and Divine Water bottles.
- Ignore optional monsters and equip these Omamori:
- Tanuki Omamori to turn physical damage received into Sanity damage.
- Boar Omamori to greatly increase Stamina recovery speed.
- Weasel Omamori to increase damage dealt by Light Attacks.
- Spider Omamori to decrease weapon durability consumption from Light Attacks.
- In the Parents boss fight, focus on your Father and ignore your Mother.
Now, you can easily defeat minibosses and bosses. Each time you consume a bottle of Divine Water, your Sanity will be fully restored and the Sanity damage taken will be reduced for approximately one minute. Combined with the Tanuki Omamori, which turns physical damage received into Sanity damage, this will render you almost invincible. Attack with the Kitchen Knife (Light Attacks) and regularly restore its durability using the Toolkits. If you want, you can equip the one-use Blessed Hand Mirror to get revived after dying from a Light Attack.

Intellectual Pursuits
Complete the game with puzzle difficulty set to “Story”.

Wise Researcher
Complete the game with puzzle difficulty set to “Hard”.

Puzzle Master
Complete the game with puzzle difficulty set to “Lost in the Fog”.
Complete the game on each puzzle difficulty setting (requires three full playthroughs). Please refer to the Puzzle Guide for solutions for each puzzle difficulty.

Winners Don’t Do Drugs

Only obtainable in New Game+.
This is the base requirement for all New Game+ endings.
Reach Shu’s House at the top of the mountain without consuming a single Red Capsule. The achievement unlocks upon reading the Letter to My Partner in the shed (only available if you didn’t consume any Red Capsule). Upon reading the letter, all Red Capsules in your inventory and the world will disappear.
Missable Achievements

The Malevolent Blade Never Rusts
Obtained the Sacred Sword after uncovering its legend.
Only obtainable in New Game+.
The Sacred Sword is a missable weapon that can be obtained in New Game+ after solving the multi-stage Sacred Sword Puzzle. It’s required for the endings The Fox Wets Its Tail (normal form) and Ebisugaoka in Silence (purified form).
After solving the puzzle, you can find the sword at the Divine Tree southwest of Shu’s House. If you have already completed the puzzle in a previous playthrough, you can go straight to the Divine Tree to pick up the sword.
To solve the puzzle, find and offer the following items to Jizo statues:
- Faded Bride Doll (Ebisugaoka Part I)
- Rusted Flask (Ebisugaoka Part II)
- Broken Japanese Geta Sandal (Ebisugaoka Part III)
- Cracked Hibachi Brazier (Sugisato Part I)
- Dad’s Old Kitchen Knife (Sugisato Part II)
Faded Bride Doll
Start a New Game+ and head halfway down the mountain to the first house on the left. The door, which was closed in the first playthrough, is now open:

Search for the following items:
- Balcony Key in the upstairs room on the left.
- Treasure Hunting Game Key in the room next door, accessible via the balcony.
- Faded Bride Doll inside the treasure box in the pantry downstairs.
Leave the house and offer the Faded Bride Doll to the Jizo further down the mountain, on the left:

You can reload the last autosave if you get hit.

Untouchable
Opened the Shrine Vault at the Shrine Path without getting hit.
Solve the Shrine Vault Puzzle without getting hit by a monster. In New Game+, the first part with the Ema symbols can be skipped, as you don’t need to find the Combination Lock Dial again. You can directly approach the Shrine Vault and input the correct code to unlock the achievement:

A Federal Offense
Opened the Igarashi residence’s mailbox.
First, find the Key to Sakuko’s Mailbox at the Sennensugi Shrine in the north of Ebisugaoka:

Then, backtrack to Sakuko’s House and open the mailbox:

At the end of the Corridors, defeat the Sakuko-like entity without getting hit by the suzu bell attack. The attack can be interrupted by hitting her while she charges:

You can reload the last autosave if you get hit by the attack.

Go Away! You’ll Ruin the Shop’s Reputation!
Defeated the Giant Monster in front of Chizuruya General Store.
After defeating the Sakuko-like entity, catch up with Rinko and Shu at Chizuruya General Store. Instead of following the alleyways to Ebisugaoka Middle School, turn right and head towards the store:

No One Left Behind
Stopped a certain number of enemies behind the white rabbit crest door from reanimating.
In Sakuko’s area of the Worship Hall, kill all 9 enemies (defeat them in rooms with blue light to stop them from reanimating). Note that one enemy spawns upon entering the rabbit hutch:

Agile Escape
Escaped from the Fog Monster at Sugisato without getting hit.
Complete the second Fog Monster encounter without touching any of the red-glowing, spore-emitting vines or getting hit by an enemy. The monster appears when you jump down the ledge at the Mountain Refuge and continues to chase you after a short break behind the metal gate. You can reload the last autosave if you get hit.

O Divine Tree
Discovered the Thousand Year Cedar.
Reach the Divine Tree southwest of Shu’s House and west of the Forgotten Shrine:

You can pick up the Sacred Sword at the base of the tree after uncovering its legend in New Game+.

Treasured Belonging
Obtained the small vial containing the Agura no Hotei-sama.
Only obtainable in New Game+.
Head to the Hermitage of Crimson Water in the Main Hall. It’s on the second floor near the second Ritual Chamber, hidden behind a wall and a door marked with Inari-sama’s Seal:

The vial is on the table inside the uphill house:

Be Free of Your Hatred

Only obtainable in New Game+.
Head to the Hermitage of Crimson Water in the Main Hall. It’s on the second floor near the second Ritual Chamber, hidden behind a wall and a door marked with Inari-sama’s Seal:

Echoes of Jealousy
Defeated Rinko without being hit by her puppets.
Defeat the Rinko-like entity without being hit by one of her puppets (dodge their charged attacks or kill them). Getting hit by the Rinko-like entity is fine. The fight takes place shortly after completing the final ritual in the Main Hall:

You can reload the last autosave if you get hit.

A Gift I Cannot Accept
Offered the Brooch to the ancient Jizo statue.
Only obtainable in New Game++.
Do not offer the Brooch to the ancient Jizo statue until you have opened all rooms and boxes marked with Inari-sama’s seal. Otherwise, you won’t be able to unlock the missable achievement Inari-sama’s Secrets anymore.
On your way to the Shimizu Residence, offer the Brooch you got in your previous playthrough (after defeating your parents) to the ancient Jizo statue:

Just Shut Up for Once, Dad!
Defeated Hinako’s father before her mother at the Shimizu residence.
Defeat your father and ignore your mother in the Parents boss fight in the Shimizu Residence:

Sly Like the Fox

Each Health, Sanity, and Stamina Upgrade requires one Ema and an increasing amount of Faith, ranging from 500 to 2,000. To purchase all 18 Stat Upgrades, you will need 18 Ema and 22,500 Faith.
Similarly, each Hokora Omamori requires an increasing amount of Faith, ranging from 300 to 1,000. To purchase all 23 Hokora Omamori, you will need 20,200 Faith:

Technically, you can purchase all Stat Upgrades or all Hokora Omamori in a single playthrough if you collect almost all valuable offerings. Since Hokora Omamori, Stat Upgrades, and Faith carry over to New Game+, it’s recommended to purchase them across multiple playthroughs.
To obtain both achievements efficiently, collect 18 Ema and gather at least 22,500 Faith, then make a manual save. Purchase all Health, Sanity, and Stamina Upgrades to unlock the first achievement, then reload the save and draw all Hokora Omamori to unlock the second achievement.
